The guns were built circa 1905 for Arthur Brampton (1865-1913), a wealthy Edwardian stockbroker. He was a keen sportsman who participated in Europe as well as at home and shot pigeon at the Grand Prix Monte Carlo in 1911. He built The Chantry at Elstree and resided there with his wife and children until his death. The guns are of Blanch's highest quality and were undoubtedly engraved by the great Harry Kell. The guns were little used by Arthur Brampton's son and have remained virtually unused since they were inherited by the current owner in 1983.

The gun case and cartridge magazines are all named and addressed to Arthur Brampton, The Chantry, Elstree.
