A PAIR OF 12-BORE "DOMINION" MODEL BACKLOCK EJECTOR GUNS, NOS. 26887/8

28-inch barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about 3/8 and 1/2, improved and 3/8 choke borings respectively, the rounded frame, hand detachable back locks and gold numbered top levers with border engraving and retaining traces of original hardening colour, 14 1/4-inch figured stocks including leather covered cheek pads and rubber recoil pads, now slightly cast on for the left shoulder but originally built for the right shoulder, 6lb. 9oz., nitro proof, No.2 gun right barrel wall thickness below the recommended minimum, in their brassbound oak and leather case with maker's label

The maker confirms that the guns were built circa 1912 for Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Jellicoe who famously commanded the British Grand Fleet at the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
