J. WOODWARD & SONS A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR GUN, NO. 7155 27-inch chopper-lump barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about 1/4 and 3/8 choke borings, the frame, locks and top lever with fine bouquet and scroll engraving and retaining original hardening colour, arcaded fences, gold line cocking indicators, 14 1/2-inch well figured stock, 6lb. 5oz., nitro proof, rejointing recommended, in its maker's lightweight canvas case S2 James Purdey & Sons confirm that the gun was built by Woodward in 1943 for Mr C. F. Eminson. and the maker notes that the previous gun in their records, built for another customer, was also built with 27-inch barrels. Very few guns were built on a Woodward during the war years and it is likely that the gun was already (in hand) prior to the outbreak of hostilities. |
