WATSON A SCARCE 12-BORE CARLTON'S PATENT TRIGGER PLATE ACTION NON-EJECTOR GUN, NO. 3012 30-inch damascus barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about 1/2 and 3/4 choke borings, the frame and top lever with fine scroll engraving and retaining faint traces of original hardening colour, 14 3/4-inch well figured stock with ribbed butt plate, 6lb. 2oz., nitro re-proof, vinyl covered case S2 The gun incorporates William Tranter's patent no. 1881 of 1882. The Carlton gun was first marketed the following year and offered for sale by Tranter's son-in-law T. W. Watson of 4 Pall Mall, London. The gun incorporates a trigger plate action and the mechanism by which one half of the cocking is done when opening and the other half when closing the gun. |
