T. HORSLEY & SON A SCARCE PATENT 12-BORE SIDELOCK NON-EJECTOR GUN, NO. 2906 30-inch damascus barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about improved cylinder choke borings, doll's head extension, the bar-in-wood frame, locks and patent sliding top lever with foliate scroll engraving, the maker's name signed within a banner, 14-inch figured stock variously cracked and worn with pieces missing beneath each lock plate, leather butt plate with parts missing, 6lb. 13oz., black powder proof, worn overall, bores pitted S2 The gun is a rare example of Charles Horsley and Charles Pryse's patent no. 3874 of 1883. The patent has much in common with Beesley's famous patent no. 31 of 1880 and features a double-limbed mainspring that is compressed upon closing the gun. |
