28-inch chopper-lump barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 1/4 and 1/2 choke borings, the breeches carved and inlaid with gold with respective rose and thistle motifs, the rounded frames, locks and top levers engraved with game scenes and the Royal residences and castles of England and Scotland, the maker's name signed in gold within a scrolling banner, the scenes bordered with fine rope twist decoration, the No.1 gun (England) with deeply carved fences and pierced top lever, with English rose motifs, the right lock engraved with a scene of Windsor castle and scenes of partridges in flight, the left lock with Sandringham House and woodcock amongst trees, the action base with the Tower of London with a shield and crossed swords bearing the flag of St George; the No.2 gun (Scotland) with deeply carved fences and pierced top lever with Scottish thistle motifs, the right lock engraved with a scene of Edinburgh Castle and grouse in flight, the left lock with Balmoral Castle and pheasants against landscapes, the action base with Holyrood House with a shield and crossed swords bearing the flag of St Andrew, the trigger plates signed K. Thomas, rolled edge trigger guards and lined cocking indicators, 15 1/4-inch highly figured burr walnut exhibition grade stocks with chequered butts, nitro proof, 5lb. 10oz., in their maker's brassbound oak and leather case
