PURDEY & SONS A FINE 16-BORE FRENETTE-ENGRAVED SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR GUN, NO. 29297, A TWO BARREL SET 28-inch chopper-lump barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 1/4 and full choke borings, the additional interchangeable superior proofed (1200 bar) barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 3/8 and 5/8 choke borings, mid extension, the frame, locks and top lever with fine scroll engraving around game scenes, the right lock with duck in flight, the left lock with pheasant among a woodland landscape, the action base with a retriever, fences with side clips, retaining virtually all of its bright and colour hardened original finish, the trigger plate signed by the engraver, "P. M. Frenette", lined cocking indicators, rolled edge trigger guard engraved with the initials 'KJ', 14 3/4-inch highly figured stock, 6lb. 2oz., nitro proof, in its maker's brassbound oak and leather case with tools, etc, canvas outer cover S2 The maker confirms that the gun was built in 1992 and that the additional superior proof barrels were fitted in 2002. The gun appears little used. |
