The maker confirms that this gun was bought by Queen Victoria in 1869 for her son, The Prince of Wales. S2
The Prince of Wales' first gun as a boy was a 28-bore percussion gun by Westley Richards and he is recorded as having his first breech loader, a pinfire, in 1863, also by Westley Richards. This was given to him for his 22nd birthday. The Prince had also a .450 Westley Richards rifle.
