A SCARCE PAIR OF 12-BORE BAR-IN-WOOD HAMMER GUNS, NOS. 2202/3

No.1 gun with 28-inch sleeved barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about 1/2 and 3/4 choke borings, the No.2 gun with 30-inch damascus barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about true cylinder borings, the frames, rebounding bar locks, hammers and sliding top lever with fine scroll engraving within detailed borders, hammers with self-retracting strikers, 14-inch well figured stocks with steel butt plates, 6lb. 12oz. and 6lb. 14oz. respectively, nitro proof, in their leather case with lift-out tray

The guns incorporate two of the three classic Horsley patents, namely the sliding top lever and the self-retracting strikers. The serial numbers indicate that the guns were built in 1874.
