A SUPERB PAIR OF 12-BORE BAERTEN ENGRAVED SIDE PLATED SINGLE TRIGGER OVER AND UNDER GUNS, NOS. 3017/8
27 1/2-inch barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 1/2 and full choke borings, narrow ventilated file cut ribs, the frames, side plates and pierced top levers engraved in the Classical style with scenes of the goddess of hunting, Diana, entwined amongst flowering foliate acanthus scrolls against a finely stippled ground, pheasants in flight and at roost engraved in relief, the gold highlighted borders with pheonix in flight, the action bases and trigger guards each with a scene of a pair of pheonix, the actions and trigger plates signed J. Baerten, retaining all of their original finish overall, selective single triggers, 15-inch highly figured stocks, Belgian nitro proof, lightweight leather case with canvas outer cover, 7lb. 4oz.
The guns appear almost unused and are engraved and finished to an exceptional standard. |
