28-inch barrels with file-cut rib, fore sight with folding moon bead, rear sight with folding leaves to 500, top extension, the rounded frame, back locks and top lever with fine scroll engraving and retaining much original hardening colour, crystal indicator viewing windows, extended top strap, 14 3/4-inch well figured stock with pistol grip, cheekpiece and perished recoil pad, sling eyes, 11lb. 2oz., black powder proof, in its maker's brassbound oak and leather case, the lid painted with "Major J. M. Ritchie, R.A.M.C."
