31-inch twist barrel with five-sided breech, graduating to multi-sided round form muzzle and impressed J. P., platinum lined breech, the hammer and lock with scroll engraving, the half length stock with old break and contemporary plated repair, straight hand grip, cheekpiece and engraved butt plate, 14 1/4-inch pull, 5lb. 13oz., black powder proof

The maker confirms that the gun was built as a 14-bore and delivered 25 October 1827 and it is mentioned in "The Early Purdeys", by L. Patrick Unsworth.
