F. N. BROWING
A 12 BORE OVER AND UNDER EJECTOR GUN, NO. 20

30-inch monoblock barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 3/4 choke borings, raised machined "non-crossfire" rib, the plain blacked frame with border engraving, F. N. motif engraved on the top-lever, 14 1/4-inch well figured stock with pistol grip, composition butt plate marked Browning Superposed, Belgian nitro proof, worn overall, fore end split and repaired, 7lb. 10oz.

This gun, number 20, is one of the earliest Browning B25 Superposed shotguns known to exist. It includes many details that were changed in the later production series. It is thought that the first guns built were distributed amongst F. N.'s dealer network to promote the new gun in Europe in the late 1930s. For further information, consult 'The Browning Superposed', by Ned Schwing.

A further sample gun, no. 477, presented to HRH Edward, Prince of Wales, in 1930, was sold at Sotheby's in 1998.
