A 7.63MM BROOM-HANDLE SELF-LOADING PISTOL, NO. 36484

5 1/2-inch barrel, receiver with tangent rear sight to 1000, the frame with presentation inscription, Admiralty Prize for Meritorious Examination Sub-Lieutenant Henry I. R. Trischler, RN, 1904, ribbed walnut grips, German nitro proof, in its matching shoulder stock holster

Henry Irwin Roslyn Trischler joined the Navy as midshipman on 15 January 1900 and passed upwards throught the ranks until he was made Commander on 31 December 1916. During the Great War he served on the battleship HMS Erin and was afterwards attached to the Department of Torpedoes and Mines until his retirement in 1922. He was closely involved in early submarines and is recorded in Leanes' Navy List for 1906 as a submarine boat instructor.
