26-inch replacement barrels by another, with 2 1/2-inch chambers about 3/4 and full choke borings, top extension, the rounded frame, trigger plate and top lever with fine scroll engraving within Celtic engraved borders, retaining traces of original hardening colour, top strap with viewing port, swing safety, 13 3/4-inch highly figured stock with chequered horn butt plate, 5lb 6oz., nitro proof, in its maker's oak and leather case with leather lined interior

The maker confirms that the gun was built in 1895 and it is a very early example of the Edinburgh action, bearing patent use number 43.
