A SCARCE .44 MODEL 3 RUSSIAN THIRD MODEL SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER, NO. 33011

6-inch hinged barrel with maker's legend and patent dates to Aug 24.69, six shot cylinder, the frame with spur trigger guard and smooth walnut grips, lanyard loop and inspector's stamp S.H. within a diamond, retaining most of its original nickel-plated finish, contemporary London black powder proof, in its fitted oak case with business card for Sir Herbert E. White

The revolver was given to Sir Herbert E. White in 1878 by Sir John Drummond-Hay in recognition of services rendered to HM Government in Tangiers during 1877. Extracts from letters and diaries relating to this are included.
