30-inch damascus barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers with recessed 1/4 choke borings, the frame, rebounding hammers, barlocks and side lever with fine scroll engraving and retaining some original hardening colour, the maker's name signed within a scrolling banner, 14 1/4-inch well figured stock with engraved heel and toe plates, 7lb. 4oz., black powder proof (1868 Rules), in its maker's brassbound oak and leather case with lift-out tray, the escutcheon engraved W. H. Wilson Fitzgerald, 29 Queen's Gate, London

The gun incorporates Dougall's patent 1128 of 1860 relating to the slide and drop lockfast action.
