ENFIELD A NO.1 MARK I** BOLT-ACTION SERVICE RIFLE, NO. 4210X 25 1/4-inch barrel with full length hand guard and adjustable rear sight, the receiver with magazine cut-off and long range sights, the mismatched bolt with floating charger guide, the receiver ring impressed "EY", the butt socket with King's crown and dated 1907 and stamped with further markings, "29" and "35", detachable box magazine, 13-inch pull, 8lb. 12oz., nitro proof
The rifle appears well used and clearly had a long service life. The "EY" marking indicates an emergency class of rifle, worn beyond local repair and it appears to have been converted for use with a cup discharger at this point. The woodwork is marked where the hand guard would have been bound. The woodwork is further impressed "DP" indicating later use for drill purposes. S1 |
