The maker's records confirm that the rifle was built 1st September 1903 for H. Tate. "Mauser Sporting Best", the first Rigby .275 regulated for the High Velocity cartridge, new barrel fitted May 1911 for H. V. Partridge. The escutcheon confirms that the rifle was a gift from Tate to H. Frank Wallace. The rifle was re-barrelled the same month that his .350 Rigby was built and he would have taken this rifle with him to China in 1911. |
