This lot and the previous lot were the property of Major George Davey, a well known shot of his day and friend of Major Burrard, amongst others.

Major George Davey, from Bristol tobacco family Franklin Davey, lived at Kinnersley Castle, Herefordshire and Lyston Court, Llanwarne, Herefordshire. A former High Sheriff of Herefordshire, he serviced with the British Forces in the First and Second World Wars. A typical Edwardian country gentleman, he favoured country pursuits, particularly if it came with a loud bang! Whilst his wife took herself off to Biarritz for the season, he took to the Scottish Highlands. Stalking was taken at Inversnaid and Rowardan on Loch Lomond, Arran and later at Sherramore near Kingussie.
