A SPANISH 12-BORE MODEL 229 SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR PIGEON GUN, NO. 875, A TWO BARREL SET

30-inch chopper-lump barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers about improved cylinder and 1/2 choke borings, the 28 1/2-inch barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers about 1/2 choke borings, mid extensions and file-cut ribs, the frame, hand detachable locks and top lever with fine acanthus scroll engraving and retaining virtually all of its hardening colour, fences with side clips, gold lined cocking indicators, rolled edge trigger guard and articulated front trigger, Holland & Holland type self-opener, 15-inch well-figured stock including ebonite extension and recoil pad, 7lb. 13oz., nitro proof, in its leather case with numerous competition labels, including Brazil 1959 and Jerez 1964

Lazaro Arrizabalaga was a well known and renowned live pigeon shot who specialised in building live pigeon guns. This particular example is reputed to have belonged to Francisco Pena, another well known live pigeon shot. The model 229 was the special live pigeon model and built to the highest quality.
