A PAIR OF 12-BORE CASBARD-ENGRAVED SIDELOCK EJECTOR GUNS, NOS. 13974(30) AND 19945(31)
25 1/4-inch chopper-lump barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers, about 1/4 and 1/2 choke borings, mid extensions, file-cut Churchill ribs, the frames, hand-detachable locks and gold numbered top levers with fine bouquet and scroll engraving, the trigger plates signed "Casbard", articulated front triggers and rolled edged trigger guards, 15 1/4-inch highly figured stocks including rubber recoil pads, 6lb. 10oz., nitro proof, barrel wall thickness below the recommended minimum, in their maker's lightweight leather case
The guns were built on Spanish supplied barrelled actions, engraved and finished in the UK, a practice that has become more commonplace in recent years. The actions are stamped "Grulla" on the action flats, together with their associated Spanish marks.
