28-inch monobloc barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers about 1/4 and 1/2 choke borings, narrow machined ventilated rib, the frame and side plates with bold foliate scroll engraving around Battle of Britain scenes, the left plate with a gold Hurricane Fighter, the right plate with a gold Spitfire, the action base showing a Spitfire attacking a German Dornier Bomber, the highly figured exhibition grade stock with pistol grip, 14 3/4-inch pull, 7lb. 4oz., Italian nitro proof
The gun is number 50 of a limited edition of 50 guns built in 1990 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. This gun, the last completed and the only with 'deluxe' gold engraving, was completed for Squadron Leader Tony Down who was then flying with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The gun is now offered on the 70th Anniversary of this epic battle.
