29-inch damascus barrels, possibly shortened, with 2 1/2-inch chambers about true cylinder borings, the rib numbered 2, the rounded frame, rebounding backlocks, hammers and top lever with fine scroll engraving and retaining some original hardening colour, 14-inch highly figured stock with engraved heel and toe plates, 6lb. 14oz., black powder proof, bores dented, brassbound oak and leather case with maker's label and charge card numbered to gun 4373
The maker confirms that the gun was built c1876. The gun incorporates Grant & Hodges patent number 251 of 1871. |
