THOMAS BOSS A RARE PAIR OF 40-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARREL PISTOLS, NOS. 1232/3 8-inch smooth bore damascus barrels with swivel ram rods, the breeches with platinum plates, the sunken rib engraved "Thomas Boss, 73, St. James's Street, London", bar locks, bolted hammers and frame with fine scroll engraving and retaining much original hardening colour, engraved steel furniture, the well figured half length stocks chequered at the hand, black powder proof, later case with some period accessories
The maker confirms that the pistols were ordered on 29 March 1853 by H. J. Standley of Bury St Edmonds.
Boss built very few percussion pistols. A total of just sixteen have been recorded, of which half are listed as double barrel pistols. This pair are the last recorded double barrel pistols that Boss built.
