MORTIMER A 16-BORE SIDE LEVER HAMMER GUN, NO. 1346 30-inch damascus barrels with 2 1/2-inch chambers, about true cylinder borings, the rounded frame, non-rebounding back locks, hammers and side lever with border and scroll engraving and retaining traces of original hardening colour, sling eyes, 13 3/4-inch figured stock with steel butt plate, 6lb. 9oz., nitro re-proof, in its brassbound canvas covered case S2 The specification of the gun indicates that it was built as a shot and ball gun for colonial use. The butt piece beneath the fore-end is stamped "J. & W. T.", possibly indicating that it was manufactured by J. & W. Tolley. |
