25 3/4-inch damascus barrels with slightly raised fore sight, rear sight with folding leaves, the broad rib with doll's head extension, the frame, rebounding back locks, hammers and rotary underlever with border engraving and numbered 1 on the top strap, 14-inch replacement stock with pistol grip, 8lb. 12oz., black powder proof, together with a set of reloading dies and some new brass cases
Holland & Holland confirm that the rifle was delivered as one of what appears to be a pair of rifles on 8 August 1883.
Umberto I, King of Italy
Born in 1844, he was king of Italy from 9 January 1878 until his death by assassination on 19 July 1900. He was deeply loathed in far Left circles, especially amongst anarchists, because of his Conservatism and support of the Barva-Beccaris massacre in Milan in 1898. He was buried in the Pantheon in Rome, the last Savoy to be buried there. |
